Giuseppe Abello was born in Varese and graduated in Bioengineering at the Polytechnic of Milan. He began working in Federchimica in 1995 at the Central Technical Scientific Department and since 2005 he has been Director of Ceramicolor (National Association of ceramic colors manufacturers and producers of metal oxides) and of Assocasa (National Association of detergents and maintenance products).
Heather BarkerHeather serves as the Global VP of Regulatory for Hygiene at RB, covering brands like Lysol, Harpic, Finish, Vanish and Airwick. In addition she leads Group Regulatory for RB Global Business Solutions to deliver expertise, knowledge and products to businesses as they seek to make their workplaces and outlets hygienically safe and enjoyable, both for consumers and employees. (International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance), the US Cleaning Products Advisory Board and the Netherlands chapter of LEAD ( Leading Executives Advancing Diversity). Prior to joining RB, Heather held roles at SC Johnson and Apotex Pharmachem.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with a Minor in Nutritional Science and a Masters degree in Toxicology.
Klaus Berend joined the European Commission in 1994 and is currently Head of Unit in the European Commission's Directorate-General Health and Food Safety, responsible for the implementation of the Pesticides and Biocides legislation.
Before, he was Head of Unit in the European Commission’s Directorate-General Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship & SMEs, in charge of the implementation of the EU Regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).
Previously, he was Head of Unit in DG Enterprise & Industry, responsible for EU legislation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), detergents, fertilisers, drug precursors, explosives and pyrotechnic articles. The Unit also dealt with the sustainability and competitiveness of the chemicals industry in the European Union.
Earlier, he was Deputy Head of Unit in the Commission’s Directorate General for Environment, Unit Biotechnology & Pesticides, where he co-ordinated the work concerning biocides, plant protection products and the Community’s participation in the Rotterdam Convention on Prior Informed Consent (PIC).
He studied chemistry at the universities of Heidelberg, Freiburg, and Stanford, and obtained a PhD in polymer chemistry from the University of Freiburg (Germany).
Sally BloomfieldSally Bloomfield is a graduate in Pharmacy from the University of Nottingham (BPharm 1996, PhD 1970). From 1972 - 1997 she was a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Microbiology at Kings College London.Read more
Her research was mainly concerned with the action and resistance to antimicrobial agents and the role of hygiene, including cleaning and disinfection, in preventing the spread of infection in domestic, hospital and other environments: From 1997-2003 she joined Unilever Research, Port Sunlight as International Hygiene Research and Development Manager, to develop a research and communication programme on hygiene in the domestic setting.
Since 2003 Professor Bloomfield has been Chairman of the International Scientific Forum on Home Hygiene. She is also a Honorary Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

Sylvie is a seasoned government affairs professional with more than fifteen years of experience in EU chemicals legislation. Before joining Cefic in 2019, Sylvie worked at Dow as Senior Government Affairs Manager and prior to this she was Director for Technical and Regulatory Affairs in A.I.S.E., the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance products.
Sylvie Lemoine holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France and started her career as an analytical lab supervisor in ExxonMobil Chemical.
Raffaella PerroneRaffaella is a pharmacist, working since 1995 as Health Manager at the Italian Ministry of Health in Rome (Italy). Expert in Biocidal products, she also takes part as Italian delegate in EC meetings of the "CA-Competent Authority" and the “PA&MRFG” Group (Product Authorization & Mutual Recognition Facilitation Group)". Peter van der Zandt
Peter van der ZandtPeter van der Zandt joined ECHA in 2019 as the Director for Risk Management, responsible for the ECHA work on REACH restrictions and authorisations as well as the Biocidal Products Regulation. Peter started his career working on chemicals policies in the Dutch Ministry of the Environment and then became head of the Dutch Chemicals Bureau at the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Peter joined the European Commission in 2004 during the time of REACH preparations, working as policy coordinator in DG Environment.
Peter is a biologist specialised in toxicology.

Susanne Zänker has been Director General of A.I.S.E., the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products since August 2005. As head of the Association and based in Brussels, she leads the A.I.S.E. Team and the membership, consisting of 29 national associations, 18 corporate members and 13 value chain partners across Europe. She interacts with stakeholders on a daily basis in spearheading the industry agenda.
Dr. Zänker graduated as a Doctor in veterinary medicine at the University of Liège, Belgium in 1989. From 1989 to 1990 she focused her studies on a European Commission project on the subject of rabies eradication. In 2016, she also received an Executive Masters in International Association Management at the Solvay Business School (ULB) of Brussels.
In 1990 Susanne joined Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica GmbH in Germany as Product Manager for vaccines. In 1993, she moved to the European Federation for Animal Health FEDESA (now known as IFAH-Europe), where she became Technical and International Affairs Director in 2000 and Managing Director in 2004.
Susanne is the author of several scientific publications and was a speaker at numerous international symposia and congresses on animal health until 2005. Today, Susanne is proactive in presenting updates on key developments for the detergents industry in Europe at major events and conferences on behalf of A.I.S.E..
